One of the first improvements was replacing the modern yellow EU-license plates for more time approiate historical plates.
Simple job....
Untill the moment, that you realise that the modern plates are larger. In fact the yellow plates were screwed to the vehicle with the outer mounting slots. So we now have a lada with 1 hole left to the rear plate, and 1 hole to the right.
We will fix that later on.
Modern plates are installed with plastic frames, commonly (anti theft) in combination with rivets or screws.
For our authentic look we didn't want to dammage the plate on the front surface.
We went for PVC blocks, carefully positioned on the rear of the license plate. The PVC blocks are pre-drilled with M6 thread.
With the rear now in a more historical look (we also did take off the plastic "katalysator-emblem", it's time to move to the front of the vehicle.
Again the original brackets are too wide. So we made new brackets out off 3mm aluminium plate.
The idea is that I didn't want to drill holes in the front bumper.
